Already boasting an array of top acting talent, the cast of Marvel’s Black Panthermovie has been bolstered even further by these latest additions.
Alongside Captain Marvel, this is the one
we’re probably looking forward to the most out of Marvel’s crop of
upcoming releases, and these names have only made it more so. Forest Whitaker in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
First up is Forest Whitaker, who has lately been the beneficiary of
if not a career revival (he was already doing fine), but definitely a
boost, also having substantial roles in Arrival and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
on the horizon. Anyway, in Black Panther he will play Zuri, who is
reportedly a senior figure in Wakandan society. There’s not much other
information beyond that, but Whitaker being involved strengthens an
already potent cast. Florence Kasumba will reprise her role in Black Panther.
Another addition marks a reprisal of sorts, Florence Kasumba played a
Dora Milaje (the Black Panther’s elite all-female bodyguards) in Captain America: Civil War,
and while you can’t see much of her in that film, she does have a great
deleted scene in which she effectively tells Black Widow to shift it,
so clearly she’s gutsy. Hopefully she’ll get more time to shine in Black Panther. Daniel Kaluuya in Black Mirror.
Last but not least, Daniel Kaluuya (whose genre credits include Kick-Ass 2, Black Mirror and Psychoville), as well as roles in Skins, Sicario, Chatroom and Welcome To The Punch) is playing W’Kabi, an ally to T’Challa. As far as supporting casts go, he definitely represents another solid addition.
Whitaker, Kasumba and Kaluuya join a cast that already includes
Chadwick Boseman as T’Challa/Black Panther, Lupita Nyong’o as Nakia,
Michael B Jordan as Eric Killmonger, Danai Gurira as Okoye and Winston
Duke as M’Baku/Man-Ape, with Ryan Coogler directing from a script he
co-wrote with Joe Robert Cole. Black Panther will be released in cinemas on 9 February 2018. You can download The 25 Greatest Marvel Comics Ever digital edition from GreatDigitalMags.com now. For more news about the latest movies, pick up the new issue of SciFiNow.
